The Northern View is all about my slightly warped view on life, business and the web. I suppose it comes from my passion for photography and the historical fact that it was computer graphics – old school style, on a Commodore PET – that got me into the whole IT scene. As a lad I was hooked on Sci-fi books and I probably only had a tenuous hold on the here and now.
Computers were going to be the brave new frontier and I particularly remember the tale of a super computer based on a moon colony at the moment that those future colonists decided they wanted political control over their destiny. As, traditionally happens, the politics descended into warfare. During the build up to battle, the computer somehow attained sentience. The story revolved around the relationships that grew up between the newly intelligent computer and 2 young colonists who had to sit on this amazing secret as madness grew around them. Anybody out there recognise the storyline? I can’t for the life of me remember the title or the author. Please post a comment if you recognise the story.
What’s that actually got to do with the Northern View? The fascination with computer related “stuff” has persisted and although I now leave the graphical creations to younger quicker nerds, I still can’t resist getting a look at some of the amazing stuff that’s out there. In future posts I’ll be letting you know about some of the excellent graphical tools that are available to budding website owners to produce very professional looking graphics for a whole range of purposes; from inspiration to hard nosed selling. If you can imagine it, you can bet your boots there’s a tool out there that probably does it! Thanks for taking a look – the simple example below will take you to some beautiful free header images that you are welcome to download.
